Man Wants His Kidney Back In The Divorce
$1.5 million or his kidney back. That’s the strange ultimatum a New York surgeon has given his estranged wife. Dr Richard Batista donated his kidney to his wife Dawnell in 2001. His attorney claims that she began having an extramarital affair a couple of years after the transplant. She filed for divorce in 2005. Dr. Batista decided to go public after four years of divorce negotations. He wants the donated kidney back, but will accept $1.5 million in compensation. Mrs Batista and her attorney had no comment on the suit. The couple has three children, ages, 8, 11 and 14.

Let us see: She cheated on him after he gave her his kidney, which was a perfect match (1/700,000 chance). She had two prior transplants that failed. After the divorce, she keeps the kids, the house, and attains child support, while enjoying her new relationship with her physical therapist.

Cheating is wrong, I don’t have pity on that woman for cheating at all and I’m sorry he got cheated on. But come on! Did he really think he was going to get his kidney back? That’s just like a bone marrow donor wanting their marrow back because the reciever became a bank robber! He was never going to recieve the money either, the kidney was a gift. Gifts are not covered in this. I’m wondering if this was actually just him trying to embarass her with making it public. This was too out of whack.

there is no way of telling someone how long thier transplant will last, I know people who have had their transplant for over 34 years and some just a few months.

on average a kidney from a dead person (a cadaveric donor) will last 8 years. This does not mean that all transplants will last that long – some last a few weeks and others may last 20 years or more. I received mine in 91 from my mom.
